Vesta - The Inner Fire

Acrylic and oil pastel on 100% cotton canvas, 80 x 80cm

Today I wanted to introduce you to my latest painting, Vesta - The Inner Fire. It’s like a visual astrological interpretation of the asteroid Vesta, with the intention to connect the viewer to the sacred inner place it represents.

There is warmth and movement, passion and emotion, and also something very calm and ethereal. There is a symbol of the earth in the middle to ground the energy, and connect it to our earthly human experience.

The Asteroid Vesta was named after the Roman Goddess of the hearth and home. The Goddess was represented by the sacred fire in her temple, and it was tended and worshiped by the Vestal Priestesses.

In Astrology, Vesta represents what we hold most sacred and holy. Things that we keep close to our heart, away from the gaze of others. I like to think of it as the inner temple with a sacred fire that we must carefully tend to. It is a place of inner devotion, inner home.

She is connected with our personal inherent power and life force - the inner fire - that is ours alone and separate from others. By tending to this sacred fire within, we tap into the deep personal sense of purpose, passion and inner fulfilment.
